Narrative for 'Noire Absolue'

Due to her desire to address the most recent spate of violence, upheaval and misrepresentation of Africans in the global media, Mona Penn-Jousset set out to find contemporary African photographers already engaged in documenting their worlds. The six photographers curated for this exhibit, represent but a smattering of the visual voices currently documenting African lives throughout the diaspora.

How do we speak of Africa/Blackness and the African Diaspora in a new language? How do Africans tell their own visual story about who they are, how they experience the world and, most essentially, how can they express the fact that Africanity/Blackness is not monolithic?
